In spring and autumn the machiya could be filled rapidly: it is better to reserve ahead. Please make your reservation through the room calendar
You will receive a tentative reservation mail within 2 days. If you don’t receive any mail, contact us directly at info@shouan.kyoto.jp
Please be aware that room availability shown on the website cannot be actual information due to manual updating. In such a case occurs, our room availability may not be able to meet your request.
Your reservation will be completed after your answer to the tentative reservation mail. Please answer to the tentative reservation e-mail within three days to complete your reservation (we advise you to check your Junk Mail Folder in any case our responding email has been blocked). Please be aware that if we do not receive a reply to the tentative reservation e-mail within three days, room(s) will be sold to other guest(s). Responding to the tentative reservation email would be much appreciated even in a case you do not wish to take the room(s).

After 21:00 we won’t be answering the phone nor to mail.
Room rates and breakfast prices are subject to change due to weekends and/or peak seasons.
Please provide us details in the comments column in any case you would like to book two or more rooms including chartering whole accommodation and/or you have some special need.
As a 130-year-old Kyoto Machiya, noise proof has not been installed. Therefore, we are afraid that children under 6-year-old cannot be accommodated at Shouan. We appreciate you for understanding and cooperation.

Cancel Policy
Please inform us about any amendment of your booking until 8 days prior to your arrival.
For changing or cancelations before less than 8 days, we apply a penalty fee.

Same day or no show/100% of one night room rate
1 day prior/80% of one night room rate
Cancelled 2 – 7 days prior to the date of arrival/50% of one night room rate
Cancelled 8 or more days prior to the date of arrival / No cancellation fee
